My response: The two are unrelated. Health Insurance pays hospital and doctor’s bills. That’s all! Most people in this country cannot afford the extra costs of childcare, the extra gas that it takes for those doctor’s visits, extra food delivery because they may be unable to cook while injured or sick, etc. Not to mention the deductibles and copays that employers do not cover for the employees.
My response: Yes, some benefits are costly and not affordable for some employers. This should not mean no benefits are offered. At the end of the day, employees are going to stay with a company that offers any benefits over one that offers none. Supplemental is no cost to an employer, yet they have the chance to give their employees a low cost of about $4 a week, simply by offering it. Whether, the employees are W2 or 1099, it doesn’t matter and only a minimum of 3 employees are needed. So it’s a great option for smaller businesses as well.
My response: I believe that the majority of HR professionals have spoken with someone in the past about supplemental. Although, that should not keep you from speaking to someone different, in the future. Supplemental benefits are only as good as the person you have helping you with the education, enrollment and service to the employees. This is the same reason people get multiple opinions from doctors before having a surgery. It is the same surgery, but the best person will do the best job.
Supplemental insurance provides additional coverage to complement your primary health insurance or other core insurance policies. It is designed to help cover expenses that may not be fully reimbursed by your primary insurance, such as deductibles, co-payments, and other out-of-pocket costs.

Supplemental insurance offers an additional layer of financial protection that can be highly advantageous for individuals and families. It serves to complement your primary insurance coverage, addressing specific gaps and financial vulnerabilities that may not be adequately handled by your primary policy.
One of the primary reasons to consider supplemental insurance is that it helps mitigate the financial strain associated with unexpected events like serious accidents, illnesses, or hospitalizations. These situations often entail out-of-pocket expenses, deductibles, and co-payments that can accumulate quickly. Supplemental insurance steps in to cover these costs, reducing the financial burden on you and your loved ones.
Moreover, these policies provide a level of flexibility and customization. You can tailor your supplemental coverage to match your unique needs and budget. Whether you’re concerned about the potential impact of a critical illness, disability, or accident, supplemental insurance allows you to choose the specific types of coverage that matter most to you.
In some cases, these policies offer income replacement options, ensuring that you can maintain your financial stability even when you can’t work due to a covered disability or illness. This feature is particularly valuable for safeguarding your family’s financial future.
Additionally, having supplemental insurance brings peace of mind. It means you’re prepared for the unexpected, allowing you to focus on recovery and healing without the added stress of financial worries. Whether it’s the specialized coverage for critical illnesses, accidents, or hospital stays, supplemental insurance provides a safety net that can be indispensable during challenging times.
Ultimately, supplemental insurance is about being proactive and protective of your financial well-being. It ensures that you have access to the necessary resources when faced with unforeseen circumstances, offering reassurance and financial security for you and your loved ones.
